FilmToledo is announcing an open call for our Board of Directors and Advisory Council! We are looking for dedicated, passionate and collaborative individuals that will help expand our organization and further our mission to grow our local film community and bring film productions to Toledo and Northwest Ohio.
Potential Board and Advisory Council members should have a familiarity with the film industry and the Toledo/NW Ohio region. Prior experience with nonprofit organizations and fundraising is a plus. Please provide a resume and short statement about your qualifications.
Requirements for All Positions:
- Completion of a full term (2027-2030)
- Dedicate 2+ hours a week to the position (dependent on time of year)
- Positive representation of FilmToledo in our community
- Attendance at quarterly board meetings (virtual and/or in-person)
- Attendance at FilmToledo events and fundraisers as required (virtual and/or in-person)
Board Treasurer – 3 Year Term
The Treasurer’s role includes monitoring our organization’s assets, liabilities, and overall fiscal health, working with the Executive Director and staff to develop the annual budget for board review and approval. The Treasurer will present regular financial statements (balance sheet, statement of activities, cash flow) at each board meeting. Other duties include following donor- or grant-specific reporting requirements, reviewing statutory and tax filings and maintaining permanent financial records for our organization. Applicants should have a background in finance, accounting, business management, or non-profit administration. A CPA or formal accounting background is helpful but not strictly required.
Director of Finance – 3 Year Term
As an independent non-profit organization, FilmToledo depends on donations from individuals and local organizations in order to cover its operating expenses. The Director of Financial Resources will work to set yearly fundraising goals, implement fundraising plans and find new avenues to raise funds from individuals and businesses through in-person meetings, networking events, email, direct mail and social media campaigns. This position will also be responsible for grant-writing for our organization, as well as sharing local and regional grant opportunities for filmmakers. Previous experience in fundraising and non-profit work is required.
Advisory Council – 3 Year Term
We are also looking for potential Advisory Council members from a variety of backgrounds, with diverse personal and professional experiences, to share their ideas and advice to help strengthen our organization. Experience with the Toledo/NW Ohio filmmaking community, local government, community organizations, businesses and nonprofits is a plus. While the Advisory Council meets with the Board of Directors quarterly, these are non-voting positions.
